Benefits of Thermal Printers

Thermal printer is a special type of printer that is also cost effective in most of the cases. It is of two types, thermal transfer and direct thermal printer. To create an image, thermal printers is used the heating process. Special types of chemically treated paper are used in this process specifically and when heat is applied to the paper it changes colors.

The paper is pulled across a heating element within the printer through the use of rollers, and for the section that it is heated the paper changes color from image. In the case of thermal transfer printers, it holds the ink on a ribbon in place of on the paper itself that transfers to the paper when it is heated. There is one similarity in both of the printer’s process that they use heating elements to print.

With the invention of Bluetooth technology, now it’s even easier to print with the Bluetooth printer and it doesn’t need any wire to connect the device, which is the advantage of it.

Various uses of thermal printers:

Thermal transfer printer: These types of printers are more likely to be utilized to create labels; more importantly for clothing tags and barcodes. This is because of its durability and flexibility and it has the advantage to create the image quickly, particularly in preventing water damage. The ink, used in the printing process for various kinds of labels depends on the kind of the material it is being printed on. This type of printer is only needs the same amount of ink ribbon for any page, regardless of how much material is actually printed on it.

Direct thermal printers: These types of printers are mostly utilized for industrial use predominantly only because of their speed of printing. The main advantage of direct thermal printers is that the only consumable is the paper that is used. In this process, the ink is not required, so don’t need to purchase and store the ink as the thermal paper is the only requirement. It is the only item that requires replacing in order to keep the printer running smoothly. This is the only reason; direct Thermal receipt printer is often used to print out the receipts from various machines such as credit card machines and cash registers. In older fax machines, this direct thermal printing technology was also used. However, this type of method has mostly been phased out.

Before some years, the image produced by the direct thermal printing process was prone to distortion or fading when exposed to water, heat, light or friction. But now the technology has been changed and these recent technology advancements have made Thermal receipt printer readable for periods of up to more than 50 years. It is more reliable as doesn’t have a lot of moving parts.
